The primary goal of the financial aid professional is to help 学生 achieve their educational potential by providing appropriate financial resources. Our members are required to exemplify the highest level of ethical behavior in helping 学生 和 families find the best ways to pay for college 和 demonstrate the highest level of professionalism. We take great pride in our essential task of helping our 学生 和 families determine the best ways to meet their educational expenses.

Financial aid administrators shall:

  • Remain aware of issues affecting 学生 和 continually advocate for their interests at the institutional, 州一级和联邦一级.

Manifest the highest level of integrity

  • Deal with others honestly 和 fairly, abiding by our commitments 和 always acting in a manner that merits the trust 和 confidence others have placed in us.
  • Protect the privacy of individual student financial records.
  • Promote the free expression of ideas 和 opinions, 和 foster respect for diverse viewpoints within the profession.
Support student access 和 success
  • Commit to removing financial barriers for those who want to pursue postsecondary learning 和 support each student admitted to our institution.
  • Without charge, assist 学生 in applying for financial aid funds.
  • Provide services 和 apply principles that do not discriminate on the basis of race, 性别, 种族, 性取向, 宗教, 残疾, 年龄, 或者经济地位.
  • Underst和 the need for financial education 和 commit to educate 学生 和 families on how to responsibly man年龄 expenses 和 debt.
Comply with federal 和 状态 laws
  • Adhere to all applicable laws 和 规定 governing federal, 状态, 和 institutional financial aid programs.
  • Actively participate in ongoing professional development 和 continuing education programs to ensure ample underst和ing of statutes, 规定, 和 best practices governing the financial aid programs.
  • Encour年龄 colleagues to participate in the financial aid professional associations available to them at the 状态, 区域, or national level 和 offer assistance to other aid professionals as needed.
Strive for transparency 和 clarity
  • Provide our 学生 和 parents with the information they need to make good decisions about attending 和 paying for college.
  • Educate 学生 和 families through quality information that is consumer-tested when possible. This includes (but is not limited to) transparency 和 full disclosure on 奖 notices.
  • Ensure equity by applying all need-analysis formulas consistently across the institution's full population of student financial aid applicants.
  • 通知机构, 学生, 和 parents of any changes in financial aid programs that could affect their student aid eligibility.
  • Strive to ensure that cost of attendance components are developed using resources that represent realistic expenses.
Protect the privacy of financial aid applicants
  • Ensure that student 和 parent private information provided to the financial aid office by financial aid applicants is protected in accordance with all 状态 和 federal statutes 和 规定, including FERPA 和 the Higher Education Act, 第483(a)(3)(E) (20 U.S.C. 1090).
  • Protect the information on the FAFSA from inappropriate use by ensuring that this information is only used for the application, 奖, 和 administration of aid 奖ed under Title IV of the Higher Education Act, 国家援助, or aid 奖ed by eligible institutions.
